Guard Signs With Warriors LEWISTON, ID -Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball coach Brian Orr announced that Janeen Nelson (Roosevelt, UT / Eastern Utah College/Union HS), has signed a letter of intent to attend the school and play basketball. She will enroll as a junior and have two years of eligibility. “Janeen is a really talented player and we feel fortunate that she chose Lewis-Clark State,” said Orr. “She can handle the ball, has great court vision, and is an excellent passer. She’s a very good 3-point shooter who can also score off the dribble. But the quality that really stands out is her competitiveness. We expect her to play an important role on next year’s team.” A 5’ 9” guard, Nelson averaged 10.5 points per game as a sophomore for Eastern Utah College. She connected on 61 total 3-point field goals which was the third best in the Scenic West Conference. “She played the shooting guard for Eastern,” stated Orr. “But we actually recruiter her as a point guard which is the position she played in high school.” Nelson was a 1st Team All-State selection for Union High School and was the Region-10 Player of the Year as a senior. Nelson joins Aundrea Morrison (Walla Walla Community College) and Kim Preston (Sehome High School) in this year’s recruiting class for the Warriors who finished 22-11 and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the ninth time in the last ten seasons.
