Mike Divilbiss enters his 14th season at the helm of the Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball program. He has posted an impressive 277-118 overall record and has led the Warriors to eight-straight 20+ win seasons.

Divilbiss has been named Coach-of-the-Year five times (1988-89, 1992-93, 1996-97, 1997-98 and 1999-2000) and has led Lewis-Clark State to five-straight National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I National Tournament berths. He has also firmly placed the Warriors on the basketball map by guiding Lewis-Clark State to nine-straight seasons of being ranked in the top-25.

In 1999-2000, Divilbiss posted a season-best 28-2 overall record and rolled to a, 12-0, first-place finish in the Frontier Conference and were the top-ranked team in the NAIA Division I final women’s basketball poll, February 29, with a 25-0 record. The Warriors, seeded fourth, made it all the way to the quarterfinals before losing to the University of Findlay. It was Lewis-Clark State’s second appearance in the Elite Eight in the last three years. The Warriors finished with the third-best scoring offense, nationally, averaging 80.37 points-per-game. They also finished ninth in scoring defense (57.60), second in scoring margin (22.77), fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (.378) and 14th in field goal percentage (.451).

Divilbiss also coached two NAIA Division I All-America’s, Charlotte Norman and Brianne Kottwitz. Kodak also tabbed Kottwitz as an All-America. Not only does Divilbiss preach excellence on the floor, he takes great pride in excellence in the classroom. Last year, Sara McEachern and Norman were named Academic All-America. Five other players have earned Academic All-America honors at Lewis-Clark State under Divilbiss. Another four have earned All-America honors, led by Julie Stringer who was a three-time All-America and runner-up to the National Player-ofothe-Year in 1993.

The Warriors also have a distinct home-court advantage. Under Divilbiss, Lewis-Clark State has posted a 137-29 (.819) overall record in the cozy confines of Warrior Gymnasium. The overflow crowds that fill the balcony and line the floors are an overwhelming factor to opposing schools.

Divilbiss graduated from Winona State University in Winona, MN in 1981 with a degree in Physical Education. He earned his master’s degree in Physical Education from Eastern Washington University in Cheyney, WA in 1987.

Divilbiss is married to the former Judy Abts and they have two children, Zachary and Chantel.
