Warriors Pick On Orediggers, 84-65

LEWISTON, ID--Jessica Foot scored 14 of her career-high 22 points in the first half in leading 24th-ranked Lewis-Clark State to an 84-65 win over Montana Tech in a Frontier Conference women’s basketball game played Saturday night, at Warrior Gymnasium.

Shannon Russel and teammate Katarina Gabaniova both made history tonight for Lewis-Clark State (12-7, 2-2 Frontier). Gabaniova swatted her career record 94th blocked shot just 3:29 into the first half. Russel set a school record when she sank her 274th career 3-pointer with just 4:08 remaining in the game. She has made 275 career 3-pointers after tonight’s game. Gabaniova finished the night with 16 points, seven rebounds, and five blocked shots for a career total of 98. Russel finished with 14 points on 4-of-15 shooting from behind the mark. She missed her first eight shots from long distance.

Stacy Ferentchak tallied a team-high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Montana Tech (5-15, 1-3). Melissa Ritter recorded a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

The Warriors used an 11-2 run midway through the first half to pull out to a 28-11 lead. L-C would lead by as many as 21 in the first half before going to the locker room with a 19-point advantage. Montana Tech came out in the second half and went on an 11-3 run to cut the lead to only seven, with 12:31 remaining, on a Ferentchak jumper. The Warriors answered with a 10-0 run tu cruise to the victory.
