Guard scores eight points in OT as Warrior men outlast Corban 87-82

SALEM, Ore. -- One night after misfiring in the clutch, Eric Durrett and the Lewis-Clark State men hit the right notes down the stretch Saturday evening.

Durrett, who pumped in 36 points, made a 10-foot jumper with six seconds left in regulation to tie the game. The Warriors then took command in overtime, and charged to an 87-82 victory over the host club in the Corban College Classic.

In the extra session, L-C (10-2) got eight points from Durrett and six from Jamal Harris. The Warriors took the lead for good with 3:20 left on two Spencer Bishop free throws.

On Friday night, LCSC lost to Western Oregon by five. That game had been tied with 90 second left, but the Warriors went cold from there. L-C was also outrebounded 46-15 in that game.

So on Saturday, the answer was to be more aggressive.

"We just talked about attacking the basket more," Warriors coach Tim Walker said. "All of our guards and our bigs were more aggressive in this game. That was probably the biggest difference."

Durrett parlayed his nervy play into 13 free throws (he made 10). He also connected on 12 of 24 floor shots.

And L-C won the rebounding battle 54-50.

After Durrett's tying basket, Corban got a chance to win it. But Ben Sisler missed a 3-pointer, and Ryan Heil's tip attempt skidded off.

Harris came up with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Jared Tikker collected 13 points and five boards.

After spending the last four games on the road -- and going 2-2 -- the Warriors will return to the Activity Center for a doubleheader with Johnson & Wales next weekend.
