SALT LAKE CITY -- Keith Scarbrough drained a pair 3-pointers to break a late tie and boost the Warrior men to a triumph over Frontier Conference foe Westminster.

The game was tied at 55-all when Scarbrough made his first bomb with 2:24 left. The junior guard hit another triple a minute later to make it a six-point lead.

The Warriors, who lost their first two conference outings on the road last week, improved to 13-4 overall and 1-2 in the FC.

"It was just a huge win for these guys and our program," first-year L-C coach Tim Walker said. "To win on the road in this league is hard to do. They were ready to play; they played with a lot of intensity on both ends."

The Warriors never trailed in this game, jumping to an 11-0 lead.

But they couldn't shake Westminster. The Griffins closed the first half with a 13-4 run to pull within six points.

And prior to Scarbrough's buckets, Westminster had rattled off six points to tie the game.

Jonathan Burnett, who gained eligibility at the end of the fall semester, led the Warriors with 14 points, five assists and five rebounds. Scarbrough added 13 points while Chris Pitts tallied 11 points and four boards.

Westminster, which used just seven players, got 21 points and 14 boards from Nick Booth.

The Warriors will return to the Activity Center next week to face Great Falls on Thursday and Montana State-Northern on Saturday.

This win "could be a springboard, but that remains to be seen," Walker said. "...We were so pleased that we hunkered down and showed that we could win a game like this."
