Warrior women and men advance in most recent poll

Rankings beginning to look accurate

Finally, the NAIA national ranking system seems to be making sense. For many Warrior enthusiasts the respect and recognition shown to L-C’s basketball squads, especially the women’s team, in the national polls has been, more or less, frustrating. Today however, the NAIA has begun to redeem itself, as the Warrior women have finally pierced the top 10, and the men have soared back into the top 20.

With an 18-2 record, and having beat a host of good teams, including #7 ranked Azusa Pacific and #15 ranked Carroll, the women’s program now stands as one of the top 10 NAIA Division I women’s programs in the country. Now ranked #9, a good case could be made that their rank should be even higher (considering the #6 and #8 teams have 14-4 records, and the #7 team is none other than the 15-4 victim-to-the-Warriors, Azusa Pacific), but at least their rank is heading in the right direction.

The Warrior men, who crushed Frontier Conference contender, Montana State Northern, last weekend, have jumped from receiving votes to #18. Their 15-4 record leads them into this weekends contests against UM-Western Friday night, and Montana Tech Saturday evening.  The Warrior women kick off the evenings double-headers at 5 p.m. pst, followed by the men at 7 p.m. pst both night’s.
