Warrior men suffer first loss of the season, 69-67

11-9-07

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Poor shooting performance in the second half spelled doom for the Lewis-Clark State College men’s basketball team as the Warriors fell to Walla Walla University 69-67 in the Walla Walla University Invitational on Friday.

The Warriors led by 12 at halftime but managed only 28 points in the second half to suffer their first loss of the season. LCSC, 5-1 overall, also only made 1-of-14 attempts from the 3-point line.

LCSC led 39-27 at halftime but Walla Walla University, a Seventh-Day Adventist school, rallied to take the lead with 7:19 left. LCSC guard Justin Fraser missed a half-court shot at the buzzer.

The Warriors were outrebounded 32-20 in the game and gave up 15 offensive rebounds, which led to several scoring opportunities for Walla Walla.

LCSC was paced by Mike Gordy’s 16 points, while Napoleon Gordon Jr. and Jon Daly added 12 each.

LCSC resumes played on Nov. 23 when it takes part in the Southern Oregon Tournament.

On Dec. 19, Walla Walla University visits LCSC in a rematch.
