HIGH SCHOOL:  Averaged nearly 17 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game during his senior year and helped Ephrata High to both the district and state championship… During the state tournament, opposing coaches tried special defenses to slow down Simon, but despite being double-and triple-teamed, he still finished 17 points in the state championship game and earned the state tournament’s MVP award… Mainly played the No. 2 guard position during the season, but also saw time at point guard and forward… Also earned first-team all-conference honors as a senior after being an honorable mention selection as a junior... A four-year starter and letterwinner at Ephrata High, he served as the team captain for the final two seasons.
