The Lewis-Clark State College men’s basketball team is starting to get noticed because the Warriors drew 17 points in the latest NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, which was released on Monday.
The Warriors, who didn’t receive any votes in the first regular-season poll last week, was among the others who received votes outside of the top 25. The Warriors would be ranked No. 32 if the poll went that high.
LCSC is 7-2 on the season and will play three games this week, including an exhibition game against Gonzaga on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Spokane. The Warriors immediately turn around and play host to the four-team Life Flight Network Holiday Tournament on Friday and Saturday. No. 10-ranked Azusa Pacific meets Montana State-Northern in the opener at 5:30 p.m., followed by LCSC and Portland Bible College at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, MSU-Northern and Portland Bible play at 5:30 p.m., followed by LCSC and Azusa Pacific at 7:30 p.m.
As a team, the Warriors are fourth in the NAIA in offensive rebounds per game at 15.8, seventh in assist/turnover ratio at 1.2, and 10th in both field goal percentage defense (28.1 percent) and total rebounds per game 43.6.
