The Lewis-Clark State College men’s basketball team cracked the NAIA Top 25 for the first time in three seasons when the Warriors were ranked No. 21 in the NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, which was released on Monday.
The Warriors, 12-3 overall, received votes in the previous poll, which came out in early December. LCSC received 102 points in the poll and is one of five new teams in the top 25 this week.
Louisiana State University-Shreveport drew 11 of the 12 first-place votes to hold down the top spot at 13-0 and 312 points. Robert Morris-Illinois is second, while Concordia of California drew the other first-place vote and is third.
Azusa Pacific, which defeated LCSC this season, is at No. 9, while fellow Frontier Conference member Westminster fell from No. 6 to No. 12 after losing last week.
LCSC is 2-0 in Frontier Conference play, which puts it alone in first place. The Warriors face their first conference road swing of the season this week when they travel to Billings, Mont., to face Rocky Mountain on Thursday and then to Helena, Mont., on Saturday to meet Carroll. RMC is 1-0 in league play and 8-9 overall, while Carroll is 0-1 and 10-4.
