The Lewis-Clark State men’s basketball team is ranked 11th in the NAIA Division I Coaches’ Top 25 poll, released by the national office on Tuesday.
The Warriors, one of four remaining undefeated teams in the nation, went 2-0 last week, posting double-digit victories over Evergreen State and Portland Bible College.
Last weekend’s contests were the seventh and eighth consecutive road games for LCSC, which has not played at home since Nov. 10.
That will change this weekend, when Lewis-Clark State opens Frontier Conference play against Great Falls on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Activity Center.
The matchup with the Argos kicks off a six-game homestand for the Warriors that will take them into 2013.
Senior forward P.J. Bolte leads the 12-0 Warriors with 18.6 points and 6.8 rebounds, but the Warriors have continued to get contributions from all over the roster.
Six players are averaging eight or more points per game for LCSC.
Oklahoma Baptist topped the rankings for the second straight week, as the 10-1 Bison earned eight of the 11 available first-place votes and 279 overall points.
Cumberlands (Ky.) was second with 274 points and received three first-place votes, followed by No. 3 Lee with 263 points.
Pikeville (Ky.) was fourth with 250 points, and Westmont (Calif.) leapt into the top five after being unranked last week.
Lewis-Clark State received 181 points, one ahead of No. 12 Texas Wesleyan and three behind No. 10 William Carey (Miss.).
Westminster (seventh) and Montana Western (RV) joined the Warriors as Frontier Conference teams represented in the rankings. This is the last Top 25 poll of 2012, as the third regular-season installment of the rankings will not be released until Jan. 8, 2013.
Following the game vs. UGF on Friday, the Warriors host Montana Tech in another Frontier Conference matchup on Dec. 22.
