The Lewis-Clark State College men’s basketball team was ranked fifth in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 poll for the third consecutive week, as the rankings were announced Tuesday by the national office.
The Warriors enter the final week of the regular season with an overall record of 25-3 and 10-3 in Frontier Conference play, and hold a half-game lead over No. 13 MSU-Northern for first place in the league.
LCSC, which is a perfect 15-0 on the season at home in the Activity Center, is searching for its first league championship since 2008.
The Warriors have won four straight games, including home victories over Dickinson State and Rocky Mountain last week. Lewis-Clark State received 248 total points in the nationwide balloting of coaches, just one behind No. 4 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).
Columbia (Mo.) was a unanimous No. 1 for the sixth consecutive week, thanks to its 28-0 mark on the season. The Cougars received all 11 first-place votes and 281 points overall.
No. 2 Lee (Tenn.) earned 272 points and John Brown got 258 points at No. 3.
The Frontier Conference once again has four teams represented in the Top 25, with No. 5 LCSC, No. 13 MSU-Northern, No. 22 Montana Western and Westminster receiving votes.
The Warriors finish up the regular season with back-to-back road games at Montana Western on Friday and at Carroll on Saturday.
