Game Story vs. #12 Carroll

Lewis-Clark State Stuns #12 Carroll, 66-65

LEWISTON, ID--Zach Wilson scored a season-high 19 points and tied his season-high in rebounds with seven in leading Lewis-Clark State College to a 66-65 upset victory over 12th-ranked Carroll College, in a Frontier Conference men’s basketball game, played at Lewiston, ID, Saturday night, at Warrior Gymnasium.

The Warriors (13-7, 5-1 Frontier Conference), one again, put the defensive clamps on another team. Carroll College (15-4, 3-2) was averaging 47.3% shooting from the floor, but was held to only 36.1% shooting and 16 points below their average. The Saints had the opportunity to win the game as Brian Meneely only made one-of-two free throws with 12 seconds remaining, but Issac Castro stripped Carroll’s J.D. Solomon of the ball, in the paint, as time expired.

Jeremy Jeppesen added 14 points and grabbed six boards, while L-C’s sixth-man, Ryan Bender, added 12 points. Castro blocked four shots and Jared Price registered eight assists.

Solomon led all scorers with 21 points and recorded four blocks, but it wasn’t enough as Carroll lost its second-straight game in league play, after winning 10-straight. The Saints lost an 82-79 heartbreaker at Westminster College, Thursday night. Gary Lynch added 12 points and Kirk Stiles, who had feasted upon the Warriors in the past, was held to 10 points.
