Warriors Hold Off Geoducks, 89-83
LEWISTON, ID--The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors held off a tough Evegreen team, 89-83, in the second game of the Clearwater River Casino/KOZE Tournament, Friday night, at Warrior Gymnasium. LCSC will now take on Lewis & Clark College, a loser in the first game to Westminster College, 76-73. The tournament is run in a classic format.
Brian Meneely posted a career-high 24 points in leading the Warriors (1-1) to the victory. Meneely’s two free throws with 1:19 left to go in the game put Lewis-Clark State ahead, 82-81. Jason Brazier posted a double-double, 15 points and ten rebounds, while Beau Barney added 14 points.
Greg Johnson led Evergreen (2-2) with a team-high 18 points and William McGill chipped in with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The game had 28 lead changes in the and Evergreen had the biggest lead, nine points with 14:11 left to go.
In game one, Westminster College (4-4) defeated Lewis & Clark College (1-1), 76-73, behind Todd Christensen’s game-high 28 points. Christensen made 5-of-11 three-pointers on the night. Matt Sparrow added 22 points while Brad Willden recorded a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Leading the way for Lewis & Clark was Kristofer Speier and his 18 points and eleven rebounds. Preseason All-America Scott Davis tallied 17 points, 14 of which came in the second half, and Jeff Auxier added 14.
