LCSC Crumbles Rocky Mountain, 98-76

LEWISTON, ID--Beau Barney came off of the bench to score 24 points, 18 in the second half, in leading 25th-ranked Lewis-Clark State to 98-76 win over Frontier Conference rival Rocky Mountain College in a men’s basketball game played Saturday night at Warrior Gymnasium.

Barney made 9-of-11 shots in the game and was a perfect 6-of-6 from behind the arc for Lewis-Clark State (21-8; 10-3 Frontier Conference). Jason Brazier also made 9-of-11 shots from the field and James Idoko added 16 points, 13 of which came in the first half. Sta’Fon Lawson chipped in with 12 points, a game-high eight rebounds, and tallied five assists for the Warriors. Brian Meneely had a game-high six assists and backcourt mate Chris Allen added five more assists.

Josh Allen and Marshaun Jourdan each scored 13 points for Rocky Mountain (7-19; 3-9). Ryan Eklund added 12 points while Beau McFadyean and Jake Stuart each tallied 11 points. Jourdan led the Battlin’ Bears with seven rebounds. Point guard Eddie Stack dished out five assists.

The Warriors got out of the blocks early, running off nine straight points until Rocky’s McFadyean converted a layup. In fact, that layup would start a 9-4 run by the Battlin’ Bears that cut the L-C lead to only two points. The Warriors quickly got the lead back into double figures and had a lead as big as 19 points, with 1:55 remaining in the half.

Rocky would hang around for much of the second half, getting as close as nine points with 9:00 to play. A 15-3 run by the Warriors over the next three minutes, with a thunderous dunk by Lawson capping the run, put the finishing touches on the game.

Lewis-Clark State College will close out its regular season Thursday night at home against Westminster College of Salt Lake City.
