Brazier and Lawson Selected to All-Conference Team
LEWISTON, ID-Lewis-Clark State College’s Jason Brazier (Antigua, West Indies/College of Southern Idaho) and Sta’Fon Lawson (Lynwood, CA/Edmonds CC) were named to the 2001-02 Frontier Conference Men’s All-Conference Basketball Team, released Saturday, March 2nd.
Brazier, a 6-3 junior guard, is: averaging 18.6 points per game, making 61.7% of his shots from the floor; sinking 84.0% of his free throws; grabbing 5.0 rebounds per game; and, 1.6 steals per game. Brazier field goal percentage is 11th-best in the nation and is 15th in free throw percentage. In the final Frontier Conference report, Brazier finished fourth in scoring (18.6), tenth in rebounding (5.0), fourth in field goal percentage (.617), sixth in free throw percentage (.840), and seventh in steals (1.60). In conference games only, Brazier scored 19.7 ppg, shot 66.2% from the field, grabbed 5.3 rpg, and made 85.0% of his free throws.
Lawson, a 6-4 guard/forward, is: averaging 15.1 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 3.1 apg, 2.2 spg, 0.7 bpg, and is making 37.3% of his 3-point field goals. Lawson led the Frontier Conference in rebounds (8.0), was eighth in scoring (15.1), second in steals (2.2), and fourth in blocks (0.7).
Warriors named to the Honorable Mention All-conference Team were: Brian Meneely (Kennewick, WA/Kennewick HS), Beau Barney (Grand Junction, CO/Colorado Northwest CC), and James Idoko (Otukpo, Nigeria/College of Southern Idaho).
Other members on the All-Conference Team are: Kirk Stiles, Shane Gamradt, Gary Lynch of Carroll College; Jermaine Walton, MSU-Northern; Jason Murphy, Montana Tech; Neil Christiaens, Montana-Western; Marshaun Jourdan, Rocky Mountain College; and, Brad Willden, Westminster College.
The Player of the Year Award is shared by Stiles and Willden. Coach of the Year honors go to Gary Turcott of Frontier Conference regular season champion, Carroll College.
Other Honorable Mention All-Conference selections are: Jeff Mason, Carroll College; Rahshi Marbury and Randy Ranalli, Montana-Western; Josh Hays, MSU-Northern; Beau McFadyean, Rocky Mountain College; Todd Christensen and Matt Sparrow, Westminster College.
