LCSC men’s and women’s tennis teams earn
national berths

5-7-07

Both the Lewis-Clark State College men’s and women’s tennis teams have earned berths in the 2007 NAIA national tournaments, which are both scheduled May 14-19 in Mobile, Ala.

Both teams claimed the Region I berth after being the highest ranked team in the region. LCSC swept the region competition during the regular season. This is the 11th straight year LCSC has won the women’s region title and qualified for the NAIA tournament, while the men’s streak stands at eight years.

The top-ranked men’s team in each of the 13 regions earned automatic berths to this year’s national tournament, while the remaining 11 teams were the highest ranked teams in the NAIA polls not to claim to a top spot. On the women’s side, there were 14 regional winners and 10 at-large berths.

Both tournaments will take place at the Mobile Tennis Center with top-ranked Auburn-Montgomery being the defending champion in both tournaments.

The official tournament brackets and match times will be released on Thursday.
