BUTTE,
Mont. -- The Lewis-Clark State
volleyball team saw its season come to
an end with a 32-30, 30-32, 30-20, 30-26
loss to Carroll in the first round of
the Frontier Conference tournament
Friday.
The
Warriors (8-19) had a chance to claim
the first game when they led 26-20. But
the Saints rallied to steal it. LCSC was
the No. 6 seed in the conference
tournament, while Carroll was the No. 3
seed.
And after
L-C won the second set, Carroll
controlled the last two.
"We were
right in there, once again," L-C coach
Erin Mellinger said. "We do have a young
team. We competed with people all year,
but haven't been able to finish."
The
Warriors were paced by Dana
Christiansen, who racked up 16 kills and
four blocks. Lindsay Scott (14 kills, 18
digs), Lisa Davis (47 assists, 17 digs),
Julie Nebeker (19 digs) and Mindy Meyer
(14 digs) also contributed.
LCSC was
without Brittney Kubik, who rolled her
ankle.
Mellinger
said she expects the Warriors to be
better next season.
"We have a
couple key slots to fill, but we're
really pretty young," the second-year
coach said. "... I do see us finishing
higher in the conference next year."
