LCSC cross country teams
in top 15 in NAIA polls
Lewis-Clark State College women's cross
country team kept its No. 13 national
ranking, but the men's squad fell two places
to No. 10 in this week's NAIA poll, which
was released Wednesday.
not too surprised with the slight fall in
the men's rankings this week," LCSC coach
Mike Collins said. "There were a few
schools around the country that ran really
well and leap-frogged us in the polls, but
nobody in our region."
Warriors will be back in action Saturday for
their only home meet of the season in the
LCSC Invite. The meet begins at 11 a.m. at
Hells Gate State Park.
is only one regular season poll left, so
this weekend is pretty important for us to
run well, especially with No. 18 ranked
Albertson College running here" Collins
said. "Beating them this weekend will do a
lot to put us in a position to go to
nationals. The same goes for them. They
are a good quality team with good coaching,
so it should be fun to watch."
LCSC women gained a few votes after a solid
performance last weekend, which Collins said
was the fastest LCSC has ever run on that
course, which includes the year the Warriors
finished ninth at the national meet.
now we have a few sick bodies on both the
men's and women's side of things, hopefully
that won't effect us too much this weekend
and we can run it through our systems before
regionals and nationals." Collins says.
"Otherwise, we control our own destiny
through our racing, we just have to race to
our ability and we will be fine."
