LCSC holds off alumni
squad in exhibition
volleyball match
8-21-06
Led
by some strong performances during some key
moments, the Lewis-Clark State College
women’s volleyball team used a strong team
effort to defeat an alumni team 30-22,
30-19, 18-30, 32-30 in an exhibition match
at the LCSC Activity Center Saturday
afternoon.
The
Warriors had seven players made their debut
in an LCSC uniform, including five freshmen,
and all had their moments against a team of
former Warrior players and coaches from the
past 15 years.
“We
got to look at a couple of different lineups
and we saw some good things so that’s
exciting,” said LCSC second-year coach Erin
Mellinger. “We saw what our strengths and
weaknesses are and we’ve got some things we
need to work on.”
The
Warriors open the season Thursday night at
home against Oregon Tech. The nonleague
match will start at 7 p.m. at the LCSC
Activity Center. On Friday and Saturday, the
Warriors will play host to the eight-team
Holiday Inn Region I Challenge, which
involves four teams from each the Frontier
and Cascade conferences. Each team will play
the four teams not from its conference in
round-robin play.
