VOLLEYBALL:

The Warriors will try to make it two straight wins over Walla Walla College in a week when LC plays host to the Seventh-Day Adventist school in a non-league match Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Activity Center.

LCSC rolled to a 30-16, 30-20, 30-20 win over Walla Walla College last week in Walla Walla. LCSC then lost a heartbreaker to Montana Tech in five games on Saturday.

The Warriors, 3-10 overall and 0-3 in Frontier Conference play, then hit the road for the first time in league action to face Montana State-Northern and the University of Great Falls. Montana State-Northern is 1-3 in conference play and 3-6 overall, while Great Falls is tied for second in the conference standings at 3-1 and is 10-6 overall.

Julie Maciboba and Kelly Scott lead the Warriors in kills with 112 and 111, respectively, while Brittney Kubik leads the team with a .245 hitting percentage and blocks with 44. Lindsay Scott leads the team in both service aces (15) and digs (159).

Here are the current Frontier Conference standings – Westminster 3-0, Carroll 3-1, Great Falls 3-1, Montana Tech 2-1, Rocky Mountain 2-2, Montana State-Northern 1-3, LCSC 0-3, Montana-Western 0-3.

GOLF:

The Warriors are currently involved in their third consecutive Monday-Tuesday tournament in Montana, this one in Billings for the Rocky Mountain Invitational. The 54-hole tournament features 36 holes today and another 18 on Tuesday.

LCSC has been paced by the hot play of Juanita Villa, who has claimed medalist honors at the Warriors’ first two tournaments.

The Warrior golf teams play a split fall and spring schedule and this invitational serves as the final league match of the fall season.

CROSS COUNTRY:

The Warrior men’s and women’s teams look to continue their climbs in the NAIA national poll on Saturday with strong performances at the Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore.  A number of NCAA and NAIA schools will be in attendance, with the men’s race covering 8 kilometers and the women’s race 5 kilometers.

The LCSC men’s team jumped 12 spots in last week’s poll to a program-best No. 9 ranking, while the women now stand at No. 13.

“Although it is great to see, I am not sure that the current rankings truly reflect our status in the nation right now.” LCSC coach Mike Collins says.  “This is the highest ranking ever for our men’s team and even though I think we are capable of being a top 10 team, we still have some work to do to get there.  We will enjoy this for now, and feel good about things, but we are working extremely hard to be sure that the ranking will still be sticking at the end of the year.

“The women’s ranking may be a little high as well, but it is a pretty fair representation of where we are likely at currently.  The women are also working to get into the top 10.  There are still some good teams out there that haven’t run yet.  Once everyone has gotten a race or two in, we will know a lot more about our standing in comparison with everyone else.”

WAA FUNDRAISER:

The Warrior Athletic Association will hold its Playhouse Parade – Dream Home for Kids Auction on Oct. 7 at the Lewiston Red Lion Hotel, starting at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $15 per person, which includes two complimentary glasses of beer or wine, hors d’ouevres, admission to the auction and a raffle ticket to win one of the playhouses.

The remaining four playhouses will be up for auction during the evening and the playhouses feature different themes. There is a “Cabin in the Woods,” a “Little School House,” a “Western Jail,” and “The Garden House.” All are on display at various locations in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley.
