The schedule for Saturday’s second day of the Staples Classic women’s basketball tournament at the Lewis-Clark State College Activity Center has been moved to earlier in the day to accommodate LCSC’s opening round match of the NAIA national volleyball tournament on Saturday night, LCSC athletic officials announced on Tuesday.
The Warrior volleyball team qualified for the 36-team NAIA national tournament and received a host berth in the opening round in its attempt to qualify for the 24-team pool portion of the tournament, which will be held Dec. 2-6 in Sioux City, Iowa. According to NAIA rules, the opening round matches must take place this Saturday.
The Staples Classic was originally scheduled for late Saturday afternoon and early evening, but has been moved up so the volleyball match between LCSC and Shawnee State of Ohio can take place that evening at 7:30.
The Staples Classic schedule now has Montana Tech and Lewis & Clark College of Portland, Ore., meeting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, followed by LCSC and Warner University of Florida at 3 p.m. The Activity Center will then be cleared at 5 p.m. to begin set up for the volleyball match at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets prices for the volleyball match, which are set by the NAIA, are $8 for adults and $5 for students with ID cards and senior citizens.
