Ten Lewis-Clark State College athletic programs, including all women’s teams, were honored by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics as 2008-09 NAIA Scholar Teams for recording team grade point averages of at least 3.0 this past year.
The team GPA includes all varsity athletes who were certified as eligible during the academic year.
The women’s basketball program led the LCSC teams with a 3.58 grade point average, which ranked it in the top 15 percent for team GPAs.
The women’s cross country and golf programs ranked second and third, respectively, for LCSC. The women’s cross country program had a 3.46 GPA, while the women’s golf program had a 3.44 GPA.
Other GPAs for LCSC were 3.40 for both women’s tennis and women’s indoor track, 3.36 for women’s outdoor track, 3.33 for men’s tennis, 3.30 for both men’s indoor and outdoor track, and 3.18 for women’s volleyball.
A total of 837 NAIA teams from across the country earned the team honor, which is a 12 percent increase from a year ago.
