The Warrior Athletic Association Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for 2013 inductees, officials from the Lewis-Clark State College athletic department announced on Thursday.
Nominations can be submitted via an online form at www.lcsc.edu/athletics/waa/nominate. Categories for LCSC’s athletic Hall of Fame include athlete, coach, team, athletic staff, and special contributions. The criteria for each category is listed on the web form.
The 2013 WAA Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in late April or early May. Nominations made by Jan. 25 will be considered for the upcoming induction class, while nominations made after this deadline will be considered for future classes.
The WAA Hall of Fame Council will review all nominations and is responsible for selecting inductees. The Council is composed of members representing LCSC’s former coaches, present coaches, former student athletes, present student athletes, faculty or staff outside of athletics, athletic staff, the media, and the WAA.
The WAA Hall of Fame was established in 2011 when legendary Warrior baseball coach Ed Cheff became its first member. In honor of his outstanding accomplishments, including 16 national titles, Cheff was the lone inductee at the inaugural event. All future ceremonies, including the one this spring, are expected to honor approximately five new members.
Induction ceremonies are planned to occur on a biennial basis with the third class being named in 2015.
The purpose of the LCSC athletic Hall of Fame is to honor former Warrior coaches, athletes, and supporters, who by virtue of their outstanding accomplishments, service or performance, are of such significant stature that they are considered to be among the most highly regarded to be associated with Warrior athletic programs. Every individual honored will have made a major contribution to the tradition of LCSC athletics, to the college, and to the community.
