PAFFILE TRUCKERS LOSE OPENER Chinese Taipei Pitchers Shutout Home Team Aug. 21, 2003 LEWISTON, Idaho – The Paffile Truckers dropped the first game of a three-game exhibition to Chinese Taipei 3-0, Thursday night at Harris Field. Chinese Taipei pitcher Su Che-Yi led a trio of Taiwanese hurlers that shutout the Trucker’s bats. Che-Yi pitched 5.2 innings, striking out eight batters. Pitchers Pan Chun-Jung and Pan Chien-Tsung combined to complete the shutout. In the top half of the second inning, first baseman Lin Chih Sheng provided Chinese Taipei will all the offense they would need when he jacked a solo homerun over the left field fall to put the Taiwanese up by one. Chinese Taipei added their second run when Chan Chih-Yao drove in Shih Chih-Wei in the fifth inning. Taiwan scored a third run via a sacrifice fly by Shih Chih-Wei, scoring Yao-Sun in the seventh inning. Four Trucker pitchers combined to allow only eight Taiwanese hits. Future Warrior Kyle Allen started the game and struck out three batters. Scott Fairbanks pitched the final 2.1 innings, striking out three batters. The Truckers and the Chinese Taipei meet Friday, 6p.m. at Harris Field for the second game of the series.
