LCSC tennis teams roll
to 8-1 victories
2-2-08
Both the Lewis-Clark
State College men's
and women's tennis
teams posted 8-1
victories in outings
at the LCSC Indoor
Tennis Center.
The Warrior men
improved to 3-2 on
the season by
disposing of
Whitworth, while the
LCSC women evened
their record at 1-1
with an 8-1 triumph
over Whitman on
Saturday.
Ali Faris improved
to 5-0 in singles
play for LCSC with a
6-1, 6-1 win.
"There has been some
uncertainty about
the strength of the
men’s team after
losing five heralded
seniors last
season," LCSC coach
Kai Fong said. "From
all indications thus
far, the men are
creating an identity
for a new era of
Warrior tennis. We
don’t have any
marquee players so
to speak but
everyone is
competing and that
is always a joy to
any coach."
In the women's
match, Whitman was
playing in its
season opener and
only could pick up
one victory in
doubles play.
"We are still
working out a lot of
kinks and making
some progress," Fong
said. "I guess we
can call it taking
baby steps. A little
improvement here and
there will make a
big difference
everywhere down the
road. The players
are learning their
roles and we have
the makings of being
a versatile team."
