WARRIORS SIGN STATE ‘B’
STAR GUARD

Guard Averaged 19.6 Points and 5.9 Assists During High School

 May 10, 2004

LEWISTON, Idaho – Kittitas High star Katie Hart (Kittitas, Wash.) has signed a National letter of intent to play basketball for Lewis-Clark State College starting in 2004-05, announced  Warrior head coach Brian Orr Monday.

“Katie is a very special basketball player,” said Orr.  “She does so many things well offensively; she can penetrate, she’s a great passer, and she can score. And we really like how hard she competes.  She has tremendous court vision and savvy and is the kind of player that has the ability to make everyone on the team better.  There is no way we can overstate her potential contributions to our program both on and off the court.  We are excited to have her part of our program.”

Hart, a four-time all-state selection in basketball, is the all-time leading scorer in all classifications of schools in South Central Washington.  In four years at Kittitas High, Hart averaged 19.6 points, 6.9 steals, 6.6 rebounds 5.9 assists a game for the Coyotes.  She is a two-time North Central Washington B League Player of the Year and a two-time recipient of the WIAA Sportsmanship Medallion, which is given at the state tournament.  The Coyotes team captain this past year, Hart has received the team’s Most Inspirational Award three years in a row.

A superb all-around athlete, Hart has been named First Team All-District in basketball, volleyball, softball, and track, reaching the state tournament in all four sports while at Kittitas High.  In her senior year, the 5-4 point guard averaged 18.5 points per game while pulling 201 rebounds in just 26 games.

Hart currently has a grade-point average of 3.87 and serves as Associated Student Body President at Kittitas High.
