In his first four years at the helm, Coach Brian Orr has quickly established himself as one of the winningest basketball coaches in the history of Lewis-Clark State College.  Last season the Warriors finished with a 22-11 record becoming the 14^th consecutive squad to post twenty or more wins.  At the same time, those 22 victories represented Coach Orr’s lowest output since arriving in 2001.  In fact, his 22.7 wins per season is the highest average in the history of the program.  Under Orr, the Warriors have compiled an impressive 40-16 (.714) conference mark, another first in the LCSC record book.  Additionally, he has established the best home court winning percentage with a remarkable 54-10 (.843) record.  Overall, Orr’s teams have amassed a 91-43 (.679) win-loss record as he enters his 5th season as head coach. 

In 2004-05, the Warriors finished first, second, or third in almost every Frontier Conference statistical category including: scoring (75.1 ppg); steals (10.0 spg); defensive FG% (.386); total rebounds (42.6); offensive rebounds (15.8); assists (15.5); defensive rebounding (26.8); scoring margin (+9.1); and turnover margin (+5.27); field goal attempts (67.9); and free throw attempts (22.0). Under Orr’s guidance, L-C has reached the Frontier Conference Tournament Championship three out of four seasons.  Last year’s club finish 7^th in the nation in both offensive rebounds and total rebounds, and 11^th in assist-to-turnover margin.  In his first two campaigns, Orr’s teams finished eighth and tenth in the country in scoring respectively, averaging just under 80 points per game.  The three-point shot has also been a trade mark of Coach Orr’s teams as the Warriors have usually finish in the top ten in the country in both average 3’s per game and 3-point field goal percentage.  On the defensive end, Lewis-Clark State has also laid claim to having one of the best team scoring margins in NAIA D-I.

Before coming to LCSC, Orr was the top women’s assistant at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.  During the 2000-01 campaign, the MSU Bobcats posted the fourth-best turnaround in NCAA Division I and finished with an 18-10 overall record and an 11-5 record in the Big Sky Conference.  

Prior to his stop in Bozeman, Orr served as the first women’s basketball coach at the University of Great Falls in 15 years. Brian also served as the top assistant coach at perennial NCAA Division II power, Montana State University-Billings from 1996-98.  In his three years at MSU-Billings he helped lead the Yellowjackets to a 64-22, three straight trips to the National Tournament, and a 25-6 record during the 1998-99 season that saw MSU-Billings advance to the "Elite Eight".

Before serving at MSU-Billings, Orr was the head boy’s basketball coach at Fergus High School in Lewistown, Mont., from 1991-96.  He was named the school’s Teacher of the Year in 1996. Brian also served as both the head boy’s and girl’s coach at Simms High School in Simms, Montana, from 1986-91.  In 1990, he led the team to the Montana State High School Class B State Championship, while being named Coach of the Year by the Montana Coaches Association.  And in 1989, he was honored by the Dufresne Foundation as the Outstanding Educator of the Year.

Orr began his coaching career at Joplin-Inverness High School in Joplin, Montana.  From 1982-86, he served as the school’s head boy’s and girl’s basketball coach and athletic director.  In his 14-year high school coaching career, his teams won five conference titles and his girl’s teams amassed a 101-39 (.721) record. 

A native of Livingston, Mont., Orr graduated in 1982, from Eastern Montana College, now known as Montana State-Billings, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education.  He received his Master’s of Science Degree in Education from MSU-Billings in 1997. 

Brian is married to the former Bonnie Olson. The couple has four children, Pat, Casey, TJ, and Bobby.
