Therefore the humble is the root of the
noble.
The low is the foundation of the high.
Princes and lords consider themselves
“orphaned,” “widowed,” and “worthless.”
Do they not depend on being humble?
Too much success is not an advantage.
Do not tinkle like jade
Or clatter like stone chimes.

December 26, 2006-
It’s the day after Christmas and I’m sitting on the
floor in a corner of the Boise airport, listening to The
Verve Pipe on my new iPod. My belly is still warm from
the chai latte I just finished with my parents before
passing through security. My flight departs at
5:35(mountain) and lands in Lewiston at 5:35(pacific).
After I arrive in Lewiston I have to hustle buns so I
can be at the gym in time for practice at 6:30.
We were able to spend four days at home
and make a quick return for games on the 29th and 30th.
The Verve Pipe couldn’t have said it any better, “it’s a
bittersweet symphony, this life.”
January 14,
2007- The new year has come
and gone and we are 3 games into the conference season.
Christmas and the New Year were quiet and quaint, most
of our free time was spent preparing for games or
sleeping. January is an exciting month because it marks
the beginning of the new year, the beginning of the
conference season, and birthday celebrations for five
Warrior women. Katie, Katya, and Jade have already
celebrated, and Janeen and Terri will be toasting to
another year on the 22nd and 23rd.
Life is good right now for our team. We
are 3-0 in conference, one of those wins include a road
game against Northern, which is a first for all of us.
None of us have beaten Northern on the road during our
time at LC. We are also making marks on the national
scene. The last poll placed us fourth in the nation.
But success can be dangerous if placed
in the wrong hands. We know that being ranked 4th only
means that we have to work twice as hard to stay there
or move up in the rankings. Our conference is full of
very talented teams that can’t be taken for granted.
Besides, what fun would it be to call ourselves number
one if we didn’t beat the best to get there?
Our next challenge is quickly
approaching. Thursday we play Western and Montana Tech
on Saturday; these two match-ups will be fun to watch.
Our challenges in the classroom also begin on Tuesday,
the first day of spring semester. I believe this
semester holds some magical things, after all, spring is
my favorite season. |
