LCSC’s Morrison
receives conference honor

Lewis-Clark State College senior Aundrea
Morrison has been honored as the Frontier
Conference’s Player of the Week for women’s
basketball, conference officials announced
Thursday.
Morrison
becomes the second Warrior to earn the honor
this season. Janeen Nelson, a senior guard,
earned the honor three weeks ago.
Morrison, a 6-foot forward from Hermiston,
Ore., helped the Warriors improve to 10-1 on
the season with two victories last weekend
in the Wells Fargo Invitational. LCSC,
ranked eighth in this week’s NAIA poll,
defeated Simon Fraser 72-70 and George Fox
67-59 in the tournament.
Morrison
averaged 20 points, six rebounds and three
steals per game to claim the tournament’s
MVP award. She hit 59 percent of her field
goals and 50 percent of her 3-point field
goals.
Also
nominated Laura Keaster of the University of
Great Falls, DeLayne Johnston of MSU-Northern,
Jenna Sawyer of Rocky Mountain College and
Katherine Sunwall of Montana Western.
On the
men’s side, Alvis Dowiels, Rocky Mountain
College’s 6-7 junior forward from Long
Beach, Calif., earned the award. Dowiels
averaged 16.5 points, seven rebounds and 2.5
assists per game. He hit 67 percent of his
field goals and 83 percent of his free
throws. Also nominated was Chris Pitts of
Lewis-Clark State. |
