loss
12-4-06
The Lewis-Clark State College
women’s basketball team split a pair of
games on the road against tough NCAA
Division II foes over the weekend.
On Friday, the Warriors
defeated St. Martin's 80-70, but then
suffered their first loss of the season with
a 81-64 setback to Seattle Pacific, which is
ranked No. 19 in Division II.
LCSC, 8-1 on the season and
ranked No. 10 in the NAIA, was led by senior
forward Aundrea Morrison, who had a solid
weekend. Morrison connected on 10-of-13
shots from the field and finished with 26
points, seven rebounds and three steals in
the win over St. Martin's. She also had 12
points, nine rebounds and two steals in
Saturday's loss.
In the win over St. Martin's,
LCSC jumped out to a 32-24 halftime lead as
the Saints connected on only 7-of-31 shots
from the field.
The Warriors, who hit
13-of-22 shots in the first half, kept up
the torrid shooting and finished 25-of-44
for 56.8 percent. LCSC also connected on
27-of-39 free throws in the win.
Katie Hart added 10 points
for LCSC, while Ashley Baker, Janeen Nelson
and Vanessa West all finished with nine.
Baker also had 10 rebounds, while Hart added
nine assists.
The Warriors couldn't carry
that warm shooting touch over into the next
night as they hit only 41.2 percent of their
shots in the first half and then 41.9
percent in the second half in the setback.
LCSC finished 27-of-65 from the field for
41.5 percent.
Turnovers also were a problem
for the Warriors as they finished with 25,
but the Warriors did hold a 41-34 rebounding
edge.
Baker led LCSC with 16
points, while Jade Fulbright and Morrison
added 14 and 12, respectively. Baker and
Morrison also had nine rebounds apiece,
while Hart added eight. |
