Defense helps LCSC women

LEWISTON, Idaho – Using a
28-6 run in the first half,
the Lewis-Clark State
College women’s basketball
team rolled to a 68-49
victory over Rocky Mountain
College in Frontier
Conference play at the LCSC
Activity Center on Thursday
night.
Leading 12-10 with 14:35
left in the opening half,
the Warriors used the 28-6
run to take a 40-16 halftime
lead. The Warriors then
scored the first four points
of the second half and led
by as much as 30, but Rocky
Mountain cut the margin to
14 with less than four
minutes remaining. The
Warriors then scored the
final six points of the game
for the win.
The win was the eighth
straight for the No.
13-ranked Warriors, who
improve to 17-3 overall and
6-0 in conference play.
Rocky Mountain is 9-13 and
2-4.
The victory also sets up a
showdown Saturday night when
No. 11-ranked Carroll, 17-2
and 5-1, visits the Warriors
to complete the first half
of league play. LCSC and
Carroll are the only teams
that have less than three
league losses.
Defense paved the way for
the Warriors on Thursday.
LCSC held the Bears to just
18-of-60 shooting from the
field, 30 percent, including
a 5-of-22 mark from the
3-point line, 22.7 percent.
The Warriors cooled off in
the second half and finished
23-of-60 for 37.3 percent.
Warrior senior guard Jade
Fulbright had another big
night. She recorded the
first double-double of her
career with 10 points and a
career0high 11 rebounds. She
also added four assists and
four steals.
Vanessa West led LCSC with
16 points and added eight
rebounds, while Sadie Short
finished with nine points
and six boards. Ten of the
11 Warriors scored at least
two points in the game and
six players had six or more
rebounds to help LCSC
control the boards 54-35.
Katie Hart added eight
points, five assists and one
steal. She now has 538
assists in her career, which
moves her into second place
on the program’s all-time
assist list.
Emmelie Lundgren led RMC
with 11 points, nine
rebounds and four blocked
shots.
