GREAT FALLS,
Montana – As has
been the theme
in numerous wins
this season, the
Lewis-Clark
State College
women’s
basketball team
shared the ball
well, played
aggressive
defense, and
utilized its
strong bench to
overcome the
University of
Great Falls
90-62 on
Saturday night.
The win
maintains LCSC’s
lead over
Carroll College
at the top of
the Frontier
Conference
standings with
just two weeks
left in the
regular season,
and improves its
conference
record to 9-1,
and overall
record to 20-4.
With the loss
Great Falls
moves to 3-8 in
the conference
and 12-15 on the
year.
Even though the
first half ended
with the
Warriors up
51-39, both
teams shot the
ball
exceptionally
well. LCSC,
currently ranked
tenth in the
nation, hit
63-percent of
its shots from
the field, while
the Argos shot
59-percent at
the halfway
mark.
The second half
L-C was able to
expand its lead
by forcing
multiple
turnovers and
continuing to
shoot well. LCSC
finished the
game shooting
61-percent from
the field, and
forcing 26
Argonaut
turnovers.
Sadie Short’s 16
points led the
way for a
Warrior team
that saw five
different
players score in
double-digits.
Jade Fulbright
had 15 points
and four
assists, Mandy
Troutt had 14
points and nine
rebounds,
Vanessa West
collected 11
points and four
steals, and Kim
Preston finished
with 11 points
and three
assists. Katie
Hart also had a
productive night
as she added
eight points,
five assists,
four rebounds,
and four steals.
Every Warrior
but one shot at
leat 50 percent
from the field
on the night.
Notable shooting
performances
came from Troutt,
Fulbright, and
Hart who shot
5-for-6,
6-for-7, and
4-for-4,
respectively.
Preston also
shot well as she
went 3-of-6 from
behind the
three-point
line.
Great Falls,
which lost 77-76
in overtime
against
23-ranked
Westminster on
Friday, was led
by senior Laura
Keaster who had
25 points, 19 of
which came in
the first half.
Lewis-Clark
State returns to
Lewiston next
week to face
Montana Tech on
Thursday,
February 21, and
the University
of
Montana-Western
on Saturday,
February 23.
Both games are
scheduled for 6
p.m.
