LCSC women’s basketball
opens conference schedule
with a bang

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The
Lewis-Clark State College
women’s basketball team did
not waste any time in
Saturday evening’s win over
Westminster. Establishing a
23-point lead by halftime,
the 16th-ranked Warriors
were able to cruise to an
80-52 victory over the
23rd-ranked Griffins to
begin the Frontier
Conference schedule.
With the win the Warriors
improve to 12-3 overall and
1-0 in the conference, and
the Griffins drop to 13-4
and 0-1.
As was the theme during a
majority of non-conference
games, LCSC used a balanced
and unselfish team effort to
hand Westminster only their
fourth loss of the season.
LCSC saw four players score
in double digits and four
players with five or more
rebounds.
LCSC out-rebounded
Westminster 40-28, and
collected 26 assists as
compared to Westminster’s 7.
From the field the Warriors
shot 52 percent, including
an 11-of-22 mark from behind
the arc.
Junior Kim Preston’s 14
points led the Warriors’
scoring efforts, while Mandy
Troutt, who had 12 points of
her own, led the team with 9
rebounds. Breianna Gaines
and Lacie Titmus picked up
12 and 10 points,
respectively. Sadie Short
had 9 points and 7 rebounds,
and Vanessa West had 8
points and 5 rebounds, and
tied Madison Mendezona with
a team leading 6 assists.
Overall, the Warriors’ bench
outscored Westminster’s
23-2.
Lewis-Clark State returns to
the Activity Center on
Thursday, January 10,
to face the University
of Great Falls, and on
Saturday, January 12, to
play host to Montana
State-Northern. Both games
are set to begin at 6 p.m.
