LCSC women climb to No.
10; men stand at No. 20
1-31-08
The Lewis-Clark State
College women’s team moved
into the Top 10, while the
men’s team only fell one
spot in this week’s NAIA Top
25 collegiate basketball
polls, which were released
on Wednesday.
LCSC, which is riding a
nine-game win streak, jumped
three spots to No. 10 in
this week’s poll after
defeating both Carroll and
Rocky Mountain last week to
improve to 7-0 in Frontier
Conference play and 18-3
overall. LCSC was ranked No.
13 in last week’s poll,
while Carroll was No. 11.
The Warriors accumulated 236
total points in the poll and
trail No. 9 Oklahoma Baptist
by only four points. Carroll
slipped to No. 14 in the
poll after the loss and is
17-3 overall. Westminster is
the third Frontier
Conference team to be ranked
and is No. 25. Montana
Western did receive votes.
Union continues to be the
unanimous No. 1 choice by
drawing all 11 first-place
votes.
On the men’s side, LCSC
dropped one spot to No. 20
after suffering its first
league loss last week to
Rocky Mountain. LCSC is tied
for first place in the
Frontier Conference
standings with Westminster
at 6-1. LCSC, which defeated
Westminster earlier this
year on the road, is 15-6
overall. Westminster, at
16-3, is ranked No. 8 in the
country. LCSC and
Westminster open the second
half of conference play on
Feb. 9 at the LCSC Activity
Center.
Mountain State University of
West Virginia received all
11 first-place votes to hold
down the top spot. Frontier
Conference members Rocky
Mountain and Montana
State-Northern drew votes,
but not enough to crack the
Top 25.
