LCSC’s Fulbright receives Frontier Conference’s weekly award

1-28-08

Lewis-Clark State College senior guard Jade Fulbright has been named the Frontier Conference’s women’s basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Fulbright, a 5-foot-8 shooting guard from Wenatchee, Wash., helped the Warriors claim home victories over Rocky Mountain and Carroll College to finish the first half of league play undefeated. The 13th-ranked Warriors downed Rocky Mountain 68-49 last Thursday and then defeated No. 11 Carroll 90-87 for its ninth straight victory to improve to 18-3 overall and 7-0 in conference play.

In Thursday’s win, Fulbright had the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 11 rebounds. She also had four assists and four steals.

Despite being in early foul trouble and sitting out most of the first half, Fulbright was outstanding in Saturday’s win and finished with 21 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field, including a 4-of-4 effort at the 3-point line. She also had three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

For the two games, Fulbright averaged 15.5 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals per game. She hit 64 percent of her field goals, 80 percent of her 3-point field goals and was 9 of 12 from the free throw line.

The men’s Player of the Week was Blair Prowse of Westminster College. LCSC’s Brian Duckworth was nominated for the award.
