its pressure
defense to force
32 turnovers and
kick start its
fastbreak, the
Lewis-Clark
State College
women’s
basketball team
rolled to a
77-47 win over
Montana Tech in
Frontier
Conference
action at the
LCSC Activity
Center on
Thursday night.
The contest was
nearly identical
to their first
meeting in Butte
last month when
the Warriors
also forced 32
turnovers and
won by 29
points, 76-47.
The win keeps
the 10th-ranked
Warriors in
first place in
the conference
standings at
10-1. LCSC is
now 21-4
overall, while
Montana Tech
slips to 12-16
overall,
including 3-9 in
conference
play.
Tech managed to
hang close to
the Warriors
early because
LCSC struggled
from the field.
Tech actually
led 17-12 at one
points, but the
Warriors closed
the first half
on a 22-7 run
and kept it
going in the
second half to
run away with
the win.
LCSC placed four
players in
double figures.
Senior guard
Jade Fulbright
led the way with
13 points, while
Mandy Troutt
added 12 and
five rebounds.
The conference’s
Player of the
Week last week,
Sadie Short,
posted a
double-double
with 11 points
and 11 rebounds,
and also added
three steals.
Lacie Titmus
added 11 points
as all 11
Warriors scored
in the game.
Senior guard
Katie Hart had a
career-high
seven steals for
the Warriors,
who have won
three straight
and 11 of their
last 12 games.
Jessie DePell
led Montana Tech
with 17 points
and five
rebounds, while
Kimber Peters
added 12
points.
For the game,
LCSC was
28-of-59 from
the field for
47.5 percent,
but was 17-of-30
for 56.7 percent
in the second
half. Montana
Tech was
13-of-50 from
the field for 26
percent, and was
just 4-of-20 in
the second half.
Tech did have a
44-31 rebounding
edge and pulled
down 16
offensive
rebounds in the
game.
LCSC will play
its final home
game of the
season on
Saturday night
when it
entertains
Montana Western
at 6 p.m. The
Warriors will
honor their four
seniors –
Fulbright, Hart,
Trout, and
Vanessa West –
prior to the
start of the
game.
LCSC leads
Carroll College
by a game in the
conference
standings as it
goes for its
third straight
conference
title.
