2008-2009 Warrior Journal
February 10, 2009
Change is
inevitable. Sometimes it
happens quickly and
sometimes it happens so
slowly over time that it
goes unnoticed. There are
those that struggle with
change and those that
embrace it. Either way, it
is important to keep in mind
that with change comes a
wave of new possibilities,
so to focus on the change
itself may inhibit the
ability to take advantage of
the moment.
A lot has changed over the
past month for the
Warriors. We are in the
second half of Frontier
Conference action and are
tied for second place with a
6-3 record. At the
beginning of the season, we
set goals for what we want
to accomplish as a team that
include winning the
conference, the conference
tournament, and eventually
winning at the national
tournament in Jackson,
Tennessee. We hit a few
road bumps in the first half
of conference play and have
found ourselves faced with
some major changes.
Although our goals are still
the same, we are being
forced to change the route
that we take to achieve
them.
With that in mind, we just
had an outstanding weekend
at home against Montana
State University – Northern
and the University of Great
Falls. There were a lot of
positive moments in both
games and it was so nice to
be back on our home floor
after two weeks on the
road. It was definitely a
huge step forward for us,
especially after the loss to
Westminster in the previous
week left us feeling
defeated.
Looking ahead, we have our
last road trip of conference
play this week when we will
take on Montana Tech and
University of Montana –
Western. We must approach
every game with a “must win”
attitude and great mental
toughness. If change is
inevitable, we have to be
prepared to embrace it and
grab hold of any
opportunities that it will
provide for us.
