2008-2009 Warrior Journal
September 14, 2008
If you have had the
opportunity to walk around
our school campus lately,
you would know that there
have been some changes and
improvements in process. We
have beautiful pathways
weaving in between the
buildings. New parking lots
that alleviate some of the
congestion on the bordering
streets. The framework for
our highly anticipated
Nursing building is
sprouting from the ground at
an incredible rate. There
are new faces in the faculty
and new students in the
crowds!
This attitude of embracing
the new and improved has
carried over into the
Warrior women’s basketball
program. We have five new
teammates: Nikki, Tasha,
Alyssa, Kirsi, and Jasmine.
Each comes to us with
extraordinary talent and
accolades. Nikki is a
junior college transfer and
Tasha, Alyssa, Kirsi, and
Jasmine join us fresh out of
high school. There have
already been some moments in
pre-season conditioning that
indicate the great potential
that our team has, and we
will continue to work hard
and improve.
Every morning we are up and
practicing by eight—running
on the track, playing in the
gym, wincing our way through
Coach Bogar’s weight circuit
in the fitness center. With
all of the hard work we have
been putting in, I am happy
to say we have been able to
make time for a little fun.
We got to sit three rows
from the field at the WSU-Cal
football game on opening
day! Although the game did
not end favorably for WSU,
it was awesome to hang out
my teammates and relax while
supporting a local team…and
we got some tasty Southway
Pizza after!
Our sponsor BBQ this year
was hosted by President Dene
Thomas and her husband
Gordon. It was a beautiful
day and great to see all of
the familiar faces that we
know and love. A huge thank
you to everyone who made the
event possible! I am
speaking for the whole team
when I say that we cannot
begin to express our
appreciation of our
sponsors.
As we head into the fourth
week of school and
pre-season conditioning, I
am proud to say that the
Warriors are getting some
serious work done! Although
we have been plagued by some
minor injuries early on, we
still have high expectations
for this season and are
prepared to put in the time
and hard work to see those
expectations become a
reality.
