BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team had another tough night offensively and fell to Western Washington 69-52 in the final game of the 12th annual Lynda Goodrich Classic on Sunday.

The Warriors, now 2-3 on the season, went 0-2 in the tournament against NCAA Division II schools.

In Saturday’s 75-61 setback to St. Martin’s, the Warriors hit only 18-of-59 shots from the field for 30.5 percent accuracy. LCSC’s shooting didn’t get a whole lot better in Sunday’s contest as the Warriors finished 29-of-51 for 37.3 percent.

The Warriors, ranked No. 5 in the NAIA preseason Top 25 poll, grabbed an 8-7 lead with less than 14 minutes in the first half, but then managed to score only two points over the next four minutes. That allowed the Vikings to go on an 8-2 run for a 15-10 lead. WWU, 2-0, never relinquished the lead.

WWU sophomore guard Amanda Dunbar came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points, including 16 in the first half when the Vikings opened up a 29-16 halftime advantage. Dunbar hit 6-of-7 shots in the first half, including 4-of-4 from the 3-point line. She joined tournament MVP Jessica Summers on the all-tournament team. Summers recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Senior Sadie Short paced LCSC with 17 points and eight rebounds and was the Warriors’ lone selection to the all-tournament team. Short had 18 points in Saturday’s loss.

Jasmine Stohr also finished in double figures for LCSC with 12 points.

LCSC finished 6-of-18 from the 3-point line, while WWU, led by Dunbar, hit 11-of-22 from the 3-point line and just 10-of-31 from inside the arc.

The Warriors also had an off night at the foul line, hitting just 8 of 15 attempts.

In the other tourney game Sunday, Saint Martin’s defeated Cascade, 85-71.

Dunbar and Short joined Summers on the all-tournament team, along with forward Dara Zack and center Krissy Bassett of Saint Martin’s and guard Kristina Schumacher of Cascade.

The Warriors return to action on Friday and Saturday for the Staples Classic at the LCSCActivityCenter. Friday’s action has Montana Tech against Warner Southern College at 4 p.m., followed by LCSC and Lewis & Clark College of Portland at 6 p.m. The pre-determined schedule then pits Montana Tech against Lewis & Clark in Saturday’s opening game, while Warner Southern faces LCSC to complete tournament play
