LCSC women's team is ranked No. 21
1/27/2009

The Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team switched spots with fellow Frontier Conference member Westminster in this week’s NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Top 25 Coaches’ Poll as the two head into Saturday’s showdown in Salt Lake City.

The Warriors split a pair of games on the road last week and are now ranked No. 21 in the country, while Westminster, ranked No. 21 last week, took LCSC’s old spot at No. 17.

Union (Tenn.) was a unanimous choice for the top spot for the third consecutive week and the Bulldogs held the No. 1 ranking for the 19th straight poll. Vanguard (Calif.) remained second and received all 12 second place votes.  The Lions (302 points) held the No. 2 spot in six of the seven top-25 polls this season including preseason.

Westminster is looking to finish the first half of league play undefeated. The Griffins are 6-0 in league play and 16-5 overall. LCSC is 4-2 in league and 14-5 overall.  The two teams meet Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and then play again in Lewiston during the final week of the regular season.
