Lewis-Clark State handles the Bulldogs 70-51
DILLON, Mont. – On what was a senior night celebration for the Montana Western Bulldogs, Warrior seniors Kim Preston and Sadie Short celebrated in their own way by leading the Lewis-Clark State women’s basketball team to its fourth straight win on Saturday. Behind another strong team effort, the Warriors brought down the University of Montana Western 70-51.
Up 33-26 at halftime, the game narrowed to 39-36 with 14:45 left on the clock, but LCSC used a 17-5 stretch to put the Bulldogs out of reach.
The Warriors are now 8-3 in the conference and 18-6 overall as they now look ahead to a three game home stand to close out the regular season. With the loss, Western falls to 2-9 in league and 6-19 overall.
Kenna Reiter, for the second time this season, led the Warriors in scoring as she dropped in 13 points and collected seven rebounds and three assists. In all, four different Warriors scored in double-digits.
Short got the Warriors rolling in the first half as she scored 10 of her 12 points before the break and also finished with four rebounds and three assists, while Preston continued her hot shooting from the outside as she made 3-of-4 attempts from behind the arc in the first half and finished with 11 points and two rebounds in the game. Jasmine Stohr also scored 11 points and had two rebounds.
For the fourth time this season the Warriors finished with less than 10 turnovers. LCSC had eight to Western’s 14 turnovers.
Lewis-Clark State shot 46.1 percent (24-for-52) from the field and 41.7 percent (5-for-12) from 3-point range, while the Bulldogs shot 28.8 percent (17-for-59) overall and 22.2 percent (6-for-27) from behind the line.
Western was led by Alysa Brown’s 11 points and three rebounds; 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists from Genna Rucker; and 10 points and three rebounds from Amanda Lidstrom. Three Montana Western players fouled out of the game, including Brown and Lidstrom.
LCSC narrowly missed holding its opponent to less than 50 points for the fourth straight game.
