The Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team remained at No. 11 this week in the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 poll, the organization announced on Monday.
The third NAIA poll of the season and first since Dec. 14 surprisingly had little change among the top 13 teams. In fact, the top six spots as well as Nos. 11-13 remained unchanged. The only team to move more than one spot was Oklahoma City, which fell two spots from No. 7 to No. 9.
The Warriors, who have won nine straight, are 16-2 on the season and 2-0 in Frontier Conference play. The Warriors collected 216 points in the poll and trailed both OCU and Campbellsville University, who are tied for ninth with 229 points. LCSC also is nine points ahead of No. 12 Azusa Pacific, which it has defeated twice this season, once in Azusa, Calif., and once in Lewiston.
Union held down the top spot and is followed by Saint Xavier, Point Loma Nazarene, Vanguard, and Oklahoma Baptist in the top five.
Fellow Frontier Conference member Westminster is at No. 15 and moved up four spots since the last poll. Montana Tech and Carroll both drew votes.
The Warriors play their first conference games on the road this weekend in Montana when they travel to Dillon on Friday to face Montana Western, and then square off against Montana Tech on Saturday in Butte. Both games begin at 4:30 p.m.
