The Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team remained at No. 11 in this week’s NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, which was released Monday, despite defeating another Top 15 team.
The Warriors 20-3 overall, stayed at No. 11 despite defeating No. 14 Westminster 56-43 last Saturday at the LCSC Activity Center. The win left LCSC tied with Westminster for first place in the Frontier Conference standings at 6-1 after the first round of conference play.
LCSC now plays five of its final seven games on the road in the conference, starting this week. On Friday, the Warriors are at Montana State University-Northern in Havre, Mont., and then take on the University of Great Falls on Saturday. Both contests begin at 5 p.m.
Westminster remained at No. 14 in the poll. The only movement in the poll saw Campbellsville and Azusa Pacific move up one spot to No. 8 and 9 respectively, while Columbia College fell from No. 8 to No. 10. Azusa Pacific, which LCSC has defeated twice this season, had 232 points in the poll and is 17-4 overall, while Columbia had 227 points and is 20-2 overall. LCSC, which now has won 20 or more games in 18 straight seasons, had 213 points.
Top-ranked Union (Tenn.) earned all 12 first-place votes for the third straight week and has now been ranked first in 32 consecutive polls. Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) earned 302 points to remain in second place for the third straight week. The rest of the top five is rounded out by No. 3 Saint Xavier (Ill.), No. 4 Oklahoma Baptist and No. 5 Vanguard (Calif.).
