Women hold steady at No. 11 in poll
2/8/2010

The Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team remained at No. 11 for the third straight week in the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the NAIA announced on Monday.

Only three teams in the top 16 were in a different spot from a week ago. Point Loma Nazarene, which was No. 2, lost last week to fall to No. 5. That allowed St. Xavier to move from No. 3 to No. 2 and Vanguard to jump from No. 5 to No. 3 after its 70-53 win over Point Loma.

Union held down the top spot for the 33rd straight week.

LCSC, which defeated both Montana State University-Northern and Great Falls on the road last week, stands at 22-3 overall and 8-1 in Frontier Conference place. LCSC is tied for the top spot with Westminster, which remained at No. 14.

The Warriors had 211 points in the poll, while No. 10 Columbia College of Missouri has 223 points.

The Warriors return home this week for their final two regular season home contests. On Thursday, the Warriors play host to Montana Tech, the only team to defeat them in league play this season, while on Saturday, Montana Western will visit. Tipoff for both games is at 6 p.m.
