Women are ranked No. 10; players close in on marks

The Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team remained at No. 10 in this week’s NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, which was released on Monday.

 
The Warriors, 21-3 overall and 7-2 in Frontier Conference play received 227 points in the poll, only three behind Biola University. Fellow Frontier Conference member Westminster moved up one spot to No. 8 with 243 points.
 
LCSC picked up a pair of road victories last weekend, which helped the program record its 19th straight season of 20 or more wins, including 10 under coach Brian Orr.
 
The Warriors resume play this week with a pair of home games. On Thursday, the Warriors take on Carroll College, which received votes in this week’s poll, and then LCSC plays host to Rocky Mountain College on Saturday. Both games are at 6 p.m. Thursday is being promoted as “Pack the House Night” and fans are encouraged to wear red, white or blue to the women’s and men’s doubleheader with Carroll. It’s also $1 night with admission, popcorn and soda all available for $1 apiece.
 
Junior forward Jasmine Stohr is seventh on the all-time LCSC scoring list with 1,412 points, but it closing in on the next two on the list. Amanda Campbell had 1,453 points, while Brianne Kottwitz had 1,476 points. The all-time leader is Rosie Albert with 2,276 points.
 
Senior guard Kenna Reiter should take over the No. 5 spot on the all-time assists chart this week. Reiter has 402 assists, which puts her sixth overall, but just two behind Julie Stringer’s 404 mark. Kottwitz is the all-time leader with 607.
 
Reiter also is moving up the all-time steals list. She has 207, which puts her in the 10th spot. Debbie Roueche is ninth with 224.
 
Junior posts Kirsi Voshell and Alyssa Fierro stand No. 5 and No. 7, respectively, on the single-season blocked shot list. Voshell has 48 this year, while Fierro has 45, one behind No. 6 Jennifer Martin. Vohsell set the record a year ago with 64.
 
Fierro and Voshell also stand 1-2 on the all-time shot blocking list in the program. Fierro has 149 and Voshell has 142. Only one other Warrior, Katarina Gabaniova (118) has more than 100 blocked shots during her career.
 
The two also are climbing the ladder on the career rebound list. Fierro has 676, which puts her sixth on the list and only eight behind Sara McEachern, while Voshell has 635, which is eighth and 22 behind Julie Stringer.
