Lewis-Clark State College guard/forward Jasmine Stohr was one of two non-seniors named to the 10-woman NAIA State Farm WBCA All-America Team by the WBCA selection committee, it was announced this week.
Stohr, a 6-foot junior from Yakima, Wash., joined sophomore Brittney Carter of Faulkner University as the only non-seniors on the squad. Stohr was the only player from the Frontier Conference selected to the team and just one of two players west of Oklahoma to receive the honor.
Stohr is busy rewriting the LCSC record book this season as the Warriors prepare to open the 32-team NAIA national tournament on Thursday in Jackson, Tenn., against Westmont. Tipoff is set for 7:45 p.m.
Stohr was named co-Player of the Year in the Frontier Conference this season and was a first-team all-conference selection for the third straight season. She earned the conference’s Player of the Week award twice this season, the second year in a row that she’s accomplished that feat, and also was named MVP of both the Twin Rivers Physical Therapy Classic and the Warrior Invitational.
Despite facing a number of gimmick defenses, including box-and-1s, in an attempt by opponents to slow her down, Stohr takes a conference-leading 18.4 scoring average into the national tournament. Because postseason statistics count in the overall statistics, Stohr will easily winning the scoring title with the most points scored, but needs to keep her average above 18 points per game to win the average points per game scoring title as well.
Her overall points total ranks 10th in the NAIA and her scoring average is 12th. She finished in double figures scoring in every game but one this season, which snapped a 32-consecutive game streak of scoring at least 10 points.
Stohr also leads the conference in steals with 89, which ranks 13th nationally. She’s averaged 2.8 steals per game, which ranks 23rd nationally as well. She is also currently averaging 4.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists, while shooting 45 percent from the field and 76.1 percent at the foul line.
Stohr’s season has her listed in numerous spots in the LCSC record book. Her point total is currently the fifth-best in single-season history and she’s now 10th in most field goals in a season. Stohr also has a single-season best 150 free throws made this season. She’s also in the top eight for steals in a season.
Stohr has scored 589 points this season, the fifth highest by a Warrior. Next on the list is Aundrea Morrison with 606.
Stohr also is No. 42 in the NAIA in field goal percentage at 46.0 percent and No. 45 in total assists with 117.
It’s the eighth time in program history a Warrior has earned first-team All-America honors from an organization and Stohr becomes the sixth player to be honored.
Julie Stringer and Rosie Albert both were first-team selections twice during their careers, while Amanda Campbell, Brianne Jolley, and Brianne Kottwitz all were honored once.
Michelle Pace, a 6-0 senior forward from Westminster, received honorable mention honors.
