Out to a 9-1 start to the season, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team was listed at No. 4 in second regular-season edition of the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Monday.
The Warriors received fewer points than they did in the previous poll but benefit from Azusa Pacific’s drop from No. 3 to No. 11.
LCSC defeated Eastern Oregon 68-59 in its only game last week and received 252 points in the poll after garnering 274 points the week before.
Oklahoma City, now 7-0, was unanimously selected as the No. 1 team with 281 points, Union (Tenn.) remained in the No. 2 spot for the third-straight poll with 272, Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) jumped up to third with 263, and Westmont (Calif.) came in at No. 5 with 243.
Azusa Pacific, last year’s national title winner, was tagged with two losses over the weekend and now stands at 5-3.
LCSC was one of two Frontier Conference members listed in the poll as Rocky Mountain, currently 10-2, remained ranked at No. 24. Westminster and Montana Western received votes, but did not crack the top 25.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The next regular-season Top 25 poll will be announced on Jan. 9.
