The NAIA national office announced that the Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team rose one spot and is tied at No. 6 in this week’s NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
The Warriors, 18-2 overall, share the ranking with Cumberlands (Ky.) as both teams garnered 254 points in the poll.
Lewis-Clark State defeated Westminster College 57-50 last week to move into a tie with the Griffins atop the Frontier Conference standings with a league record of 4-1. Despite losing its only game last week, Westminster also rose one spot in the poll, from No. 21 to No. 20.
Leading the poll, receiving 312 points and all 12 first-place votes, was Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.). Oklahoma City was second with 301 points, Union (Tenn.) third at 293, Westmont (Calif.) fourth at 281, and Lee (Tenn.) fifth with 269.
The Warriors began the season ranked No. 5, climbed to No. 4 in December, were No. 6 in early January, and then hit their lowest ranking of No. 7 in last week’s poll.
The team will play two conference games on the road this week. First, the Warriors will face MSU-Northern at 5 p.m. on Friday, and then Great Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, both times are Pacific.
