For the second consecutive week, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team was listed at No. 13 in the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Monday.
With the regular season now in the books, the Warriors stand at 25-4 overall. They went 11-3 in league play to earn the No. 2 seed in the Frontier Conference tournament, and will host seventh-seeded Montana Tech in the opening round on Wednesday at 7 p.m. LCSC is in pursuit of its fifth straight conference tournament title.
The top 13 spots in the poll saw very few changes. Oklahoma still holds down No. 1, Union (Tenn.) is No. 2, and Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) is No. 3.
After defeating Great Falls and MSU-Northern at home last week, the Warriors garnered 168 points in the poll. Nipping at their heels with 163 points is Westminster which rose from No. 16 to No. 14. The Griffins won both their games last week and claimed the conference regular season crown with a league record of 13-1.
If the Warriors defeat Montana Tech on Wednesday they will host a semifinals game on Saturday. Because it is the conference tournament, LCSC season passes cannot be accepted at either game. Ticket prices are $10 for reserved, $7 for general admission, and $5 for students and senior citizens.
After the conclusion of the conference tournaments on March 6, the 32-team national championship field will be announced on March 7. The final regular-season poll along with the bracket for the 32nd annual Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship will also be released on March 7.
